Ouarzazate – One Day Excursion

Known as the gateway to the Sahara, Ouarzazate sits at the edge of the Atlas Mountains about 200 km southeast of Marrakech. The road there crosses the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass at over 2200 metres, offering some of the most striking views in the country. In town, visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, a sprawling mud-brick fortress that was once home to the Glaoui clan. Nearby, the Atlas Film Studios are among the largest in the world and have served as a backdrop for productions like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Finish the day with a walk through the old ksar before heading back over the mountains.
